Description

PYR Test Kit and PYR Reagent are recommended for the detection of pyrolidonyl arylamidase (also called pyrolidonyl aminopeptidase) activity in certain groups of bacteria, such as Streptococcus pyogenes (group A strep), Enterococcus spp., some coagulase-negative staphylococci, and some Enterobacteriaceae. A rapid test for Group A Strep and Enterococcus, both of which are PYR positive, all other streps are negative. A more reliable test for Group A Strep than bacitracin, the L-pyrrolidonyl -B-napthylamide impregnated disks serve as a substrate for the detection of pyrrolidonyl peptidase. Positives turn red, takes only 3 minutes, on large 3/8" disks, includes PYR reagent (cinnamaldehyde).
